the Believer
(Click

All of the Biblical
responsibilities are to be accomplished both individually and
corporately in the context of our brothers and sisters in the Body of
Christ.
TO BECOME A DISCIPLE OF JESUS:
-
I commit to seek to be led by
the Holy Spirit of God (Romans 8:13-16)
-
I commit to seek to persist in
the faith, striving always to imitate Christ (Hebrews 3:14; I Peter
1:13-15)
-
I commit to seek to develop the
fruit of the Holy Spirit -- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. (Galatians
5:22-23)
-
I will seek to live at peace
with everyone through forgiving others as God has forgiven me.
(Matthew 5:9; 21-24, 38-48, 6:12, 14-15, 26:52; Mark 9:50; Romans
12:14-21, 14:19, Collosians 3:12-17)
-
I commit to sharing the Good
News of Jesus Christ as the Spirit gives opportunity, seeking to
save the lost. (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 19:10; I Peter 3:15)
-
I commit to seek to regularly
attend church. (Hebrews 10:25)
-
I commit to seek to provide a
meaningful worship experience for the blessing of my brothers and
sisters in the church. (I Corinthians 14:26-33; I Chronicles 15:1 --
16:43)
-
I commit to seek to respect and
appreciate the diversity of personalities, gifts, and purposes that
God has placed in our midst for His service. (I Corinthians
12; Ephesians 4:11-16)
-
I commit to seek to be
temperate and self-controlled in all things.
(I Corinthians 12; 9:25-27; 10:23)
-
I commit to respect and work
through the elements of diversity to accomplish God's will for
unity, maturity, and completeness in Christ for all. (I
Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:11-16)
-
I commit to seek to develop a
deepening relationship with God through regular reading of the Bible
and daily prayer. (Matthew 6:11, 33-34; Psalm 119:11, 105; II
Timothy 2:15)
-
I commit to seek to live the
simple life (being content with having my needs filled by God and
not yearning for wants that may be outside His will for me).
(Matthew 6:24-34; I Timothy 6:5b-10; Philippians 4:10-13)
-
I commit to seek to be trained
and equipped to become the spiritual leader of my home. (Ephesians
5:21- 6:4; Proverbs 22:6
-
I commit to seek the highest
good for all in the church. (Ephesians 4:11-16; John 13:17;
Galatians 6:2)
TO BE ASSIMILATED IN THE CHURCH:
-
I commit to seek, acknowledge,
and develop my spiritual gifts God has given me. (I Corinthians 12;
Ephesians 4:11-16)
-
I commit to seek to discover my
personal purpose (passion) given by God to bring glory to Him, by
constantly seeking His will in my life. (Ephesians 2:10; Romans
12:2)
-
I commit to sharing the Good
News of Jesus Christ as the Spirit gives opportunity, seeking to
save the lost. (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 19:10; I Peter 3:15)
-
I commit to honoring Christ
with the time, talents, and resources with which He has blessed me,
recognizing the tithe as a minimum. (Malachi 3:8-12)
-
I commit to working with my
brothers and sisters in the church to seek to provide fellowship
which fosters Christian growth and development; to help each other
realize his/her fullest and highest spiritual potential. (Ephesians
4:11-16)
-
I commit to working with my
brothers and sisters in the church to seek to minister to the
individual and corporate needs of the local church. (Acts 6:1-6)
-
I commit to being equipped to
engage my purpose (passion) and gift into mission, whether local or
global, in whatever role it should take. (I Corinthians 12;
Ephesians 4:11-16)
TO BE DISCIPLINED AS NECESSARY:
-
I commit, together with my
brothers and sisters in the church, to lovingly, with fear and
trembling, hold each other accountable for God's Biblical direction
through the giving and receiving of counsel. (I Corinthians 5;
Galatians 6:2; Titus 3:10-11)
-
I commit, together with my
brothers and sisters in the church, to confess our sins to caring
and spiritually mature people that we may be made whole and well.
(James 5:13-16)
